Malin Broman

leader & director

In 2008, Malin Broman was appointed Concert Master of the Swedish Radio Orchestra. Since taking up her position in Stockholm she has been invited as Guest Leader by such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra, London.

After regularly directing the Swedish Radio Orchestra she is now in demand as musical director/soloist. In that role she has appeared with Tapiola Sinfonietta, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Ensemble, Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Västerås Sinfonietta, Trondheim Soloists and Lapland Chamber Orchestra and ACO Collective (Australia).

From 2015-2020 Malin was the Artistic Director of Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra. Together they toured and recorded extensively, premiered over 20 works, collaborated with actors, dancers and performed at the Nobel Prize Cermony. From 2019 she took up the post of Artistic Director of Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in Finland, succeeding Sakari Oramo. She enjoys pushing boundries and has directed the Swedish Radio Choir and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in an all Haydn programme - the first time that the two ensembles have worked together without conductor. In the same spirit Malin performed and directed Brahms violin concerto with Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, broadcasted by Swedish Radio P2.

During the first week of the Corona lockdown and at the last moment Malin took over a programme to direct the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's 3rd Symphony ’Eroica’ and Mahler and Stenhammar songs with Peter Mattel. It was an emotional event captured in this documentary by Deutschlandfunk. https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/corona-konzert-blickkontakt-mit-dem-bariton.1988.de.html?dram:article_id=477513
