Since winning the Washington International Competition for Strings and major prizes in the Nielsen International Violin Competition and Eurovision Broadcasting Competition, Malin has maintained a busy career as a soloist.
She made her debut with Neeme Järvi and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Brahms’ Violin Concerto. “The ovations were enormous and one starts to wonder if we have ever heard a Swedish violinist on this level in Gothenburg Concert Hall before” (Gothenburg Post 7 August 1997). This led to an immediate re-invitation to perform Prokofiev's Second Concerto. Since then she has performed with many of the Swedish, Danish and UK orchestras including BBC Scottish Symphony, St.Martin-in-the-Fields, BBC NOW, working with conductors such as Daniel Harding, Andrew Manze, Ilan Volkov and Heinrich Schiff.
Shortly after her appointment as concertmaster of the Swedish Radio Orchestra in 2008 she performed Brahms’ Double Concerto with Steven Isserlis under the baton of Daniel Harding.
Together with a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in 2013 she recorded Piazzolla’s Four Seasons for Channel Classics together with bass player Rick Stotijn. In 2015 she recorded Nielsen’s Violin Concerto garnering rave reviews and 2016 saw Malin perform the world premiere of two violin concerti written especially for her; in November she played and recorded Britta Byström’s concerto Games of Souls with Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra and in September, Helen Grime’s Concerto with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Daniel Harding.
In 2018 she premiered and recorded Britta Byströms Double Concerto also a commission for Malin and Rick Stotijn. This together with Västerås Sinfonietta conducted by Simon Crawford-Phillips.
In 2019 she collaborated with Simon again, Simon this time playing the piano in Mendelssohn's Double Concerto for violin and piano, a Grammy nominated recording with Musica Vitae. Other commissions include concerti by Andrea Tarrodi "Acanthes" (double concerto with Pekka Kuusisto), Daniel Nelson "Döden och Julia", Jesper Nordin "3rd Retrospective" (for electric five-string violin) and Britta Byström "Im Freien".
